Launching of criminal investigations into the deaths of Mohammad Al-Arab and Muhammad Gulzar, following 2 GHM complaints

Mohammad (al) Arab
[left – 21yrs old] and Muhammad Gulzar [right – 42yrs old] shot dead by Greek forces at the Greek-Turkish border when they tried to cross it on 2 and 4 March 2020 respectively. It took two Greek Helsinki Monitor complaints to the Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation for the launching of criminal investigations into their deaths (and into scores of other injuries, violence, a disappearance and an attempted rape), as several articles, reports by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International and even more appeals by UN and Council of Europe authorities, as well as 100+ MEPs, published before the GHM complaints were ignored or worse were treated by the Greek government -in a “Trump fashion”- as “fake news” and “Turkish propaganda.”
